The story behind Hannah Jayne Art

What I do

I create beautiful, uplifting artwork inspired by the places, colours and moments that make life feel special. Original acrylics on canvas, mixed media pieces, gouache and watercolour works, fine art prints, greeting cards and my little ACEO art cards, which have found collectors all over the world. Alongside the painting, I host relaxed Sip & Paint experiences where beginners and old hands can enjoy a creative night out.

Why I paint

I first turned to painting as a way of managing my anxiety. It gave me something gentle to focus on, a way to slow my mind down and take a break from the constant stream of worries that can be so hard to switch off. It worked better than I ever expected. And it changed how I see everything. Since I started painting I notice so much more: the colour of a hedgerow, the light on a hillside. It’s like seeing the world through a different lens, and I appreciate beautiful things far more than I did before.

“Every painting starts with a place worth remembering. A favourite walk, a holiday you didn’t want to end, a coastline that stopped you in your tracks. If one of my paintings makes you stop, smile and remember, then it’s done exactly what I hoped.”

How it started

I always enjoyed art at school, but beyond the odd pottery-painting afternoon I barely touched a brush for years. About two years ago I picked up the paints properly, and I never looked back. I started sharing my work online, selling originals and building collections inspired by places people love. And because I’d enthused at anyone who’d listen about how good a creative hobby is for your brain, the Sip & Paint experiences almost invented themselves.

The best part of teaching

There is something incredibly rewarding about watching someone who swears they’re not creative leave with a painting they’re genuinely proud of. Even if it’s just for a couple of hours, painting makes you be present in the moment. That’s a gift I get to hand somebody at every single event.

What inspires me

Yorkshire landscapes. Beautiful coastlines. Mediterranean villages at sunset. Colourful flowers, travel memories, slow living, and places that make people smile. I love owning art that reminds me of a special trip, and I want my paintings to do the same for you.
